This is a permanent part-time (0.72FTE) position commencing ASAP

Geraldton Residential College has an exciting opportunity for a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic person with a genuine desire to assist young people complete their education while living away from home.

The minimum starting remuneration for this position (salary plus loading) is $93,867 per annum, increasing each year of successful service to $100,643.

The successful applicant for this position is expected to perform shift work, which includes active overnight supervision during the lights out period. While you will be supported by on call staff, suitable applicants should be comfortable working alone at night.

About the role

As a Boarding Supervisor you will support and reinforce appropriate values and behaviours of students, fulfilling duty of care requirements in line with Department policy and respecting and embracing diversity within the student population.

You will provide and supervise opportunities which support the academic, social, emotional and physical development of students. You will plan and implement a wide range of activities suitable for students to participate in, ensuring students receive appropriate care that supports their wellbeing.

In addition, the successful applicant will regularly communicate with colleagues, parents, school staff and others involved in supporting student education, development and wellbeing.

Being an active team player with a history of working with youth, previous experience in the Education Sector and/or transferable skills will be highly regarded.

Applicants assessed as suitable may be considered for similar vacancies that arise at our college within the next 12 months. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. This may also include other vacancies where active overnight supervision is not a key element of the role.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required
  • work according to rostered hours which may include nights, weekends and public holidays;
  • obtain (prior to first rostered shift working with students) and maintain a current:

- First Aid Certificate – Provide CPR (HLTAID001)

- First Aid Certificate – Provide First Aid (HLTAID003)

  • within six months of commencement of employment obtain and maintain a current:

- LR Class Driver’s Licence and a Passenger Transport Driver (PTD) authorisation;

- Aquatic Rescue for Group III Pool Award*; and

- Surf Rescue Certificate*;

  • obtain a Certificate IV in Community Services – Student Residential Care (CHC42021) within six months of commencement of employment.

* Dependent on operational requirements as determined by College Manager.
