Queensland Country Tourism (QCT) is seeking an experienced Communications & Media Coordinator to join our team on a part-time basis (3 days per week).

This pivotal role supports QCT’s communication efforts across disaster response, media engagement, corporate channels, and stakeholder relations—particularly with local government partners. You'll also assist with marketing content and reporting, contributing to the visibility and reputation of tourism in Queensland’s inland regions.

What You’ll Do:

Develop and manage disaster communications strategies and messaging.

Draft media releases, liaise with journalists, and coordinate media opportunities.

Deliver council updates and attend local government meetings.

Manage QCT’s corporate communications channels, style guide, and brand tone.

Support the team with written content, event participation, and marketing reporting.

What We’re Looking For:

Excellent writing skills and attention to tone and brand.

Experience working with media, councils or stakeholder groups.

A confident communicator who can juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.

A collaborative team member with a can-do approach.

Selection Criteria – Communications & Media Coordinator

Please respond briefly to each of the following:

Demonstrated experience in media relations or public communications, including writing media releases and liaising with journalists.

Ability to develop and implement communication strategies (e.g. disaster management or corporate comms).

Strong written skills across formats—e.g. social media posts, newsletters, reports, and PowerPoint presentations.

Experience managing corporate communication platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, email newsletters).

Strong stakeholder engagement skills.

Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Willingness to occasionally travel to events and council meetings.
