Position overview

The Support Officer is responsible for providing a range of administrative, support to the Operations Division. Core functions of the role include preparation of various correspondence and documentation, records management, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, providing procurement support, scheduling of appointments, monitoring of various inboxes and supporting the team to efficiently resolve issues.

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to solve problems based on operational guidelines, knowledge and experience, utilising useful information, looking for underlying causes and suggesting alternative actions to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, exercise attention to detail with initiative and ability to identify routine process improvements.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-level administrative support in a corporate environment, complemented by strong written and verbal communication skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint), electronic records management, and database systems with a focus on producing clear audience-appropriate documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapports with others in order to understand issues and suggest sources of action appropriate to their needs.

The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is the primary regulator of Victoria's building and plumbing industries, ensuring compliance with relevant laws that protect the Victorian community and promote confidence in the built environment. The VBA manages practitioner registration, monitors industry standards, and enforces compliance through inspections, investigations, and audits. It also supports industry professionals by providing guidance, education, and resources to uphold safety, durability, and sustainability in building and plumbing work.
