The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is a Victorian Government statutory authority whose role is to work with and support natural resource management agencies, Traditional Owners and local communities to improve sustainable land use, biodiversity and water resources management extending from Ballarat south through the Western District Lakes and Victorian Volcanic Plains including Colac and Geelong, through the Otway Ranges to the coast along the Great Ocean Road.
About the opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small team and deliver the Corangamite regions environmental water and estuary management priorities.
These priorities include,
planning and delivery of three formal environmental water entitlements and contributing to policy and planning affecting the broader environmental water reserve at a regional and state level.
surface and groundwater referrals, input to internal and external policies, strategies and planning as well as broad engagement with key stakeholders including Traditional Owners.
Providing high level technical advice to regional planning and strategy development
The position also overseas regulation of artificial estuary openings in reference to the Water Act leads estuary strategy and adaptation in partnership with key partners and community.
The role is full time fixed term for two years. We offer flexible work arrangements and support working from home in combination with working from our main office in Colac and secondary office in Geelong.
Remuneration for the role is $114,341 – 129,693 per annum depending on experience plus superannuation.
About you
Significant experience in natural resource management, water management, or environmental management and a relevant post-graduate qualification or extensive experience with a lower-level qualification.
High level people management skills and capability to lead, develop, motivate and empower teams and create a positive inclusive organisation culture.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with proven ability to positively engage and foster strong professional relationships with key stakeholders, members of the public and employees
Proven managerial leadership with the ability to develop and deliver high quality projects and programs.
Ability to apply strategic thinking and political acumen in decision-making and resolving complex problems.
High level written communication skills with proven ability to prepare external correspondence and professional business reports.
Demonstrated ability to model Corangamite CMA’s Approach and the Victorian Public Sector values and behaviours.
