About the role

This position, responsible leading Council’s modernisation of Council’s Fleet related policy, systems and services.
Reporting to the Coordinator Fleet Services and working closely with the Branch Manager City Services, colleagues from within the Fleet Services team and across the broader organisation, this role will lead the rolling out of Council’s new fleet policies, which will include system, tool and process improvements and staff training/development, to support safe and effective fleet operations, improved fleet utilisation, and highest level of safety and sustainability.
The project implementation should leverage off opportunities for collaboration with other Councils, trials and shared learnings, as well as align with industry capacity and capability, best appropriate practices as outlined by peak bodies, industry and government guidance.
The role is also responsible for strengthening Council’s relationship with Commonwealth and State Government departments to identify, apply for and manage available grant funding opportunities or access improved procurement opportunities.
Skills and experience require to perform the role
- A tertiary qualification in project management or related field, and/or demonstrated equivalent competencies gained through experience in managing complex business transformation projects or programs.
- Demonstrated program/project management skills with proven experience in program and/or project planning and delivery, including risk management, budgeting and scheduling, to achieve desired outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to listen to, and engage with, those directly affected by any changes triggered by projects.
- Ability to co-ordinate formal and informal teams with multi-disciplinary skills and expertise to achieve both project and wider corporate objectives.
- Experience in procurement, establishing contract and consultant briefs, managing consultancies/contractors to achieve outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, able to prepare and present reports and explain project information to non-experts.
