About the role
As part of a larger team, you will lead the delivery of strategic initiatives that bring our Health and Safety Strategy and Improvement Plan to life.
You’ll build safety capability and accountability across teams and leaders, champion positive cultural and behavioural change, and provide expert advice on managing health and safety risks. In this role, you’ll also oversee safety communications, manage change initiatives, facilitate key steering committees and working groups, and deliver targeted learning programs that drive our safety priorities forward.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and drive the formation and delivery of the Safety Improvement Plan
- Diagnose business needs, and, design, develop and execute safety focussed projects and programs to accelerate execution of our strategy.
- Build the capability and effectiveness of frontline leaders to deliver meaningful and lasting safety communications
- Proactively build positive and trusted relationships, develop business partnerships with, and manage the expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical advice and solutions for strategic Health & Safety related issues
- Lead and drive effective change management processes
- Support the Head of Safety with leadership, coaching and mentoring of leaders and health and safety teams to contribute to the development of the overall vision and direction of the Health and Safety function.
- Support the management of Major Contracts by ensuring alignment and compliance with the Health & Safety improvement plan
Qualifications, Certifications and Licences
- Diploma/Degree in work health safety or equivalent
- Cert IV Project Management or higher, or willingness to obtain
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 10 years experience in related discipline and experience in design and delivery of health and safety plans and management systems
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects and business improvement initiatives
- Experience in high risk work environments
- Experience working and leading transversally across organizations to achieve outcomes
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate proficiently both verbally and written
- Experience managing teams
