This position is responsible for the care, feeding, and overall well-being of animals in our facility. This role requires a passion for animals, attention to detail, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks efficiently.

Animal Care and Well-being

• Provide daily care for animals according to any specific instructions from their owners, including:

o Feeding them any specific food per detailed instructions
o Administering any required medication while they are in our care
o Being aware of any behavioural or breed-specific issues the animals may

have and managing that behaviour, such as separation anxiety, the increased need for exercise and playtime for certain larger breeds, dog barking, dog distress or matters of dog safety

o Ensuring they have fresh water
o Ensuring the animals are loved and cared for whilst being groomed at Paw

Stars, including being patient, gentle and caring to them
o Taking them for exercise twice daily to the beach or park to promote

physical and mental health
o Supervising their play and socialization with other animals
o Taking the time to understand each animal's specific needs such as

longer walk times for some, teaching or building on specific tricks and playtime Health and Hygiene

De-flea and de-worm pets with baths and sprays as needed.

A good eye-for-detail when grooming or identifying minor injuries or changes in

animal behaviour

Some grooming and clipping across all breeds of dogs in a salon environment

Washing the dogs with our specially formulated shampoo and conditioner, followed by drying

with a towel or blow dryers

Trimming, cutting and styling dogs fur according to breed standards or owner preference as

well as brushing and detangling fur

Clipping and filing dogs nails to a safe length and cleaning their ears to prevent infection

Inspecting dogs for signs of skin infections, parasites or other health issues and reporting any

concerns to your manager and the dogs owner

Continued monitoring of the animals for signs of illness or distress, and reporting any concerns

to the veterinary staff promptly.Sanitation and Maintenance

Keeping the recreation area, grooming enclosures and anywhere else the animals are kept,

clean at all times using vacuum, disinfectant, bleach and emptying the bin regularly

Ensuring the lawn is always clean by depositing faecal matter in bins and spraying the lawn to

minimize odours

Responsible for the calm, safe and secure transport of animals to and from different areas

during their stay, including using leashes or lifting and carrying the animal when

appropriateRecord Keeping

Note down, photograph and maintain each animal's grooming and behaviour records, including

animal care, their feeding schedule, their temperament, health issues, behavioural issues, any treatments administered, blades used and cut preferred

Customer Service

Answering customers' questions about:

The products used, the areas and enclosures where their animals will be

groomed, cared for and exercised; and
o How the animals are bathed, groomed, fed, treated and looked after

Strong animal handling skills and breed knowledge Qualifications

Minimum 2 years experience as a Senior animal attendant.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Excellent communication skills to handle any complaints or difficult situations

Ability to lift and handle animals of various sizes.

Compassionate and patient personality

Working Conditions

Must be able to work weekends

Exposure to different breeds of dogs and potential allergens

Physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting.
