The Opportunity

As a Senior Building Designer at the City of Perth, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the design and documentation of capital and operational projects for the City’s Buildings team, as well as providing technical advice and recommendations on design, building services, and engineering requirements for building projects.

Reporting to the Building Principal within our Infrastructure and Assets team, your responsibilities will primarily include:

  • Planning and coordinating design and documentation requirements for capital and operational projects, in line with the City’s project management framework, relevant standards, and building regulations;
  • Providing ongoing support and advice to the project delivery team through to the final completion of construction contracts, ensuring design requirements and intent are realised in the built works;
  • Offering support, professional advice, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to approvals, building design, compliance, sustainability, construction, building services, engineering, and contracts; and
  • Managing appointed external consultants throughout the duration of their contracts, ensuring all services and deliverables are of a high standard and delivered within agreed timeframes and milestones.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline;
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in the design and construction of buildings and infrastructure;
  • Experience in procurement and the management of multidisciplinary consultant teams; and
  • Excellent organisational skills and sound judgment, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

To be eligible to work for us, you will need to demonstrate:

  • A right to work in Australia (e.g. a birth certificate, current passport or current visa);
  • A current ‘C’ class Australian drivers licence; and
  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months).
