About the Role

As a qualified Building Surveyor (Level 1, 2, or 3), you will ensure the safety, compliance, and sustainability of buildings within our community. You will be responsible for conducting inspections, providing advice, and upholding standards in building regulations.
Reporting to the Coordinator Building Services, you will assess and process building applications and permits according to legislation, codes, policies and schemes, and ensure determinations are made efficiently and in accordance with statutory and City established timeframes.

A snapshot of the role:
Process building applications and permits within established timeframes, ensuring all relevant information is obtained from internal and external stakeholders
Administer the provisions of legislation and codes, including the Building Act 2011, Building Regulations 2012, Building Code of Australia, Residential Design Codes and other local laws and policies
Undertake inspections of building work at key stages to ensure compliance with approved plans and regulations
Provide advice to property owners, builders and other stakeholders regarding building regulations, safety and compliance issues
Investigate and respond to complaints and concerns related to building safety and code violations
About You
Current registration as a Level 1, 2 or 3 Building Surveyor with the Building Commission of WA
High level knowledge of the Building Code of Australia, Building Act 2011, Building Regulations 2012 and relevant Australian Standards
Proven knowledge and experience in assessing building approvals and permits as a Building Surveyor
Experience interpreting and applying the Residential Planning Codes (R-Codes)
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write reports and compliance documents
Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team, demonstrating teamwork and comradery
Valid ‘C’ class driver’s licence
Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under six months)
