About the Role: D24 Data Analyst
We are seeking a detail-oriented D24 Data Analyst to join our Custody Notification Service (CNS) team on a full-time, fixed-term basis from June 2025 to March 2026 to backfill a maternity leave position. Based in either our Preston or Shepparton office, this role supports key reporting and data operations within the CNS program.
The D24 Data Analyst is responsible for managing, organising, and reporting data associated with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who enter police custody. This work plays a critical role in informing service responses and advocating for the wellbeing of individuals in custody.
Key Responsibilities
Process and follow up on D24 notifications and outcomes
Gather, organise, and report statistics
Draft and distribute legal correspondence such as bail and summons letters
Maintain the Criminal Court Diary
Complete documentation stemming from CNS activities
Liaise with the CNS Team Leader on trends or issues
Undertake client file administration
Stay informed about legal and social justice issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel, Word, Outlook)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Professional, courteous phone manner with strong interpersonal skills
Understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander justice issues in Victoria
Collaborative and team-oriented approach
Capacity to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from diverse backgrounds
Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise and manage pressure
Desirable:
Experience in legal, social justice or community-based service environments
Knowledge of data analytics, dashboards, or reporting tools
Mandatory Requirements
The successful applicant must be able to provide or be willing to obtain:
Current Employee Working with Children Check
National Criminal History Police Check
Proof of full vaccination or valid medical exemption
Proof of Australian work rights (e.g. passport, birth certificate, or visa)
Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence
