About the Role
As a Communications Officer, you will:
Develop and deliver high-quality content for a range of platforms including digital, print, media and video.
Support the implementation of Council’s Corporate Communications Strategy and individual campaign plans.
Respond to media and customer enquiries, monitor coverage, and manage Council’s reputation.
Create content for the Mayor’s Office, including speeches, video scripts, and media columns.
Provide expert communications advice to internal stakeholders and project teams.
Collaborate with external creatives, media outlets, and community groups to support campaign delivery.
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Communications, Marketing, PR or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including speech and copywriting.
Experience developing and delivering communication and marketing plans.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to balance competing priorities.
Knowledge of digital and social media campaign delivery.
Ability to engage diverse and multilingual audiences.
A team mindset with proven project and time management skills.
Commitment to Council’s values, safety principles, and inclusive community engagement.
Desirable
Previous experience in Local or State Government
Basic photography and video editing skills
