About the role

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at Pendergast Northwest Freight Services' facility in Tamworth, NSW. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our fleet of heavy vehicles, ensuring they are kept in excellent working condition to support our freight operations.

What you'll be doing

Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy vehicles such as prime movers, semi-trailers and rigid trucks

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults

Perform major overhauls and rebuilds of engines, transmissions and other components

Maintain detailed records of all work completed

Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard and in compliance with relevant regulations and safety requirements

Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and procedures

What we're looking for

Qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with a minimum of 5 years' experience

Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics and general mechanical repairs

Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair complex faults efficiently

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Proven experience working in a fast-paced, safety-focused workshop environment

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Current driver's license and forklift license advantageous

own basic tools
