We’re partnering with a complex, large-scale retail business. With operations across multiple countries and a clear transformation agenda, this is an established yet evolving organisation. The Tax Manager is a stand-alone role and hands-on; there is support work carried out by outsourced providers, requiring strong finance leadership in place and a collaborative, commercial culture. The head office is located in a convenient city centre with flexible work-from-home (WFH) policies.

About the role:
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller and working closely with the Group CFO, this is a hands-on Tax Manager position covering both local and global tax matters. While there are no direct reports, you’ll be a critical advisor to senior stakeholders and the go-to person for all things tax.
You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading corporate tax compliance across Australia and other jurisdictions (with support from outsourced providers)
• Managing group tax reporting, provisions and effect accounting
• Overseeing indirect taxes, including FBT, BAS and Payroll Tax
• Maintaining documentation,n including Transfer Pricing
• Advising on M&A transactions, contract reviews, and global mobility implications
• Engaging with external tax advisors and managing relationships across multiple regions

About You:
You’re CA or CPA qualified with a strong technical grounding in corporate tax, and ideally some Big 4 experience. You bring deep knowledge of Australian and New Zealand tax regimes, along with an ability to confidently navigate cross-border issues in collaboration with advisors.

You’re proactive, commercially minded and comfortable working independently. You know how to operate at pace, and you take pride in delivering accurate, strategic tax guidance in a business-facing role.
