Capstone are recruiting a ‘Senior IT Project Manager’ to work at the NSW Dept. of Communities & Justice (DCJ), within the ‘Housing, Disability and District Services & Emergency Management section, working on the Maintenance App 2 (MA2) project.

• Paying $1,043.96 per day + super (via PAYG)
• Temp contract: to start ASAP until 31/03/2026
• Working within the Housing Policy and Strategy business unit
• Located at 6 Parramatta Square

Key Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Execution: Lead end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of key project phases for R1 and R2. Collaborate with R2 Project Manager on technical activities across both releases. Coordinate with shared project resources, including BAs, architects, release managers, testers, and SMEs.
• RAIID & Status Reporting: Manage RAIID logs and ensure regular ongoing project updates via weekly Senior User Group, fortnightly status reports, daily sprint progress reports, project plan and schedule, key artefacts (e.g., SOLA/SOM, Project Closure Report, Lessons Learnt, Options and Decision Papers, SOWs)
• Requirements & JIRA Management: Organise and manage daily joint discovery meetings with technical teams, business reps, and support teams to: finalise user stories and acceptance criteria, secure product owner endorsement, update Jira records, manage ongoing Jira and TRIM updates for both R1 and R2, coordinate handover of signed-off requirements to vendors via Jira and stand-up meetings.
• Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination: Lead daily stand-ups with vendors and project team. Coordinate and manage walkthroughs, showcases, and Design Authority Board meetings with stakeholders and vendors. Work closely with vendors such as Wipro, MuleSoft, Accenture Ariba, PEN Testers, and Performance Testers. Engage with business teams from system support, training, change, PMO, and related projects.
• Testing & Go-Live Support: Coordinate and support UAT preparation and execution for R1 and R2. Coordinate all Go-Live activities. Manage and facilitate Lessons Learnt sessions.

Criteria
To be considered you will have:

• experience leading full lifecycle IT projects across complex environments with a strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project delivery methodologies.
• solid understanding of enterprise IT systems, cloud platforms, and digital solutions, and familiarity with system integration, data migration, security, and testing phases with the ability to translate business needs into technical deliverables and oversee technical delivery.
• ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, including executives, sponsors, and technical leads, leading cross-functional delivery teams, including internal staff and external vendors, and facilitating workshops, governance forums, and steering committees.
• the ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects or large-scale programs with competing priorities, managing project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting, coordinating internal resources and managing vendor contracts, deliverables, and performance.
• experience in identifying, tracking, and mitigating project risks and issues, including managing change requests and controlling project scope.
• proficient with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheet), ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and document management systems (e.g., SharePoint, TRIM/CM9).

Government sector experience is desirable.
