The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Clinical Oversight Officer to provide a critical role within Justice Health.
About the Business Unit
Justice Health is part of the Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group in the Department of Justice and Community Safety and supports the Minister for Corrections. CJS also comprises Corrections Victoria; Policy, Strategy and Service Design; Group Services and Coordination; and Justice Services (which includes Community Correctional Services and other justice programs). CJS plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
The Adult Health Oversight Unit is responsible for:
- oversight of the delivery of health services across the Victorian adult correctional system
- ensuring service providers work collaboratively to ensure integrated and coordinated approaches to meeting the needs of people in custody
- driving ongoing improvements to service delivery.
The Adult Health Oversight Unit achieves this through working collaboratively with people in custody, health service providers, Corrections Victoria staff and public health providers.
About the Role
The role of the Senior Clinical Oversight Officer is to review, investigate and audit health service delivery, including through location-based audits, provide evidence-based clinical advice to inform health service design and system improvements and maintain sound systems, policies and procedures that support audits and reviews.
Senior Clinical Oversight Officers work collaboratively with key service partners to identify and respond to issues and risks that affect health care outcomes and provide high level strategic advice, reports, briefings, presentations and correspondence on complex and sensitive matters.

- Review, investigate and audit healthcare service delivery.
- Provide evidence-based clinical advice to inform service design and system improvements.
- Maintain sound systems, policies and procedures that foster a culture of accountability, whilst encouraging innovation and problem solving.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in delivery of healthcare services in highly sensitive and complex environments.
- Demonstrated experience in a quality focused role.
- AHPRA registered health practitioner in a relevant area of speciality
Qualifications/requirements
- A tertiary qualification in a health or related field.
- Current AHPRA registration is desirable.
- Regular state-wide travel will be required.
- Participation in the after-hours on-call roster will be required.
