About You

You are a proactive and friendly professional with a strong foundation in research ethics and compliance. You understand relevant legislation and research environments, and you're confident supporting committee operations. You bring sound IT skills, strong communication, and a clear commitment to ethical and responsible research.

About the Role

In August 2023, UniSA became the first institution in South Australia to sign the Australian Openness Agreement on Animal Research and Teaching. This milestone reflects UniSA's dedication to transparency and accessibility relating to teaching and research involving animals. UniSA remains the only South Australian based signatory to date and continues to champion openness within the academic community and beyond.

Reporting to the Manager: Research Ethics and Compliance, the Animal Ethics Officer supports the Animal Ethics Committee’s oversight of research and teaching activities involving the use of animals and contributes to the development and promotion of a safe and ethical research culture within the University.

To Be Successful You Will Need

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in a research ethics, governance, or higher education environment
  • Solid knowledge of animal ethics legislation, compliance, and research-related animal care
  • Experience supporting or managing Animal Ethics Committee processes and documentation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in IT systems including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and research management systems
