Are you a psychologist seeking a career that challenges you intellectually and professionally—where your specialised skills drive real-world impact? At Corrective Services NSW, you'll take your expertise to the next level, working on complex, high-stakes cases that shape offender rehabilitation and community safety.

As a Specialist Psychologist, you won't just practice psychology—you'll influence critical decisions within custodial and community settings. You will deliver advanced assessments, sophisticated risk evaluations, and expert advice that informs parole and legal outcomes. This is your chance to build a career defined by purpose, professional growth, and meaningful social contribution.

Your career. Your impact. Right here.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments focusing on mental health, cognitive functioning, and risk of reoffending.
  • Manage high-risk offender cases, developing tailored behaviour management plans.
  • Prepare detailed psychological reports for courts, parole boards, and tribunals.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions targeting violence, substance abuse, and criminogenic factors.
  • Provide expert consultation and training to correctional staff to support effective case management.
  • Adapt psychological literature to develop new programs, therapies, or research initiatives.
  • Exercise independent clinical judgement, applying high-level diagnostic ability consistent with scientific literature.
  • May lead multidisciplinary teams and supervise provisional psychologists as required.

What We Offer to Support Your Growth and Wellbeing:

  • Generous Leave: 5 weeks annual leave in this remote, welcoming locale.
  • Environmental Allowance: Recognising the unique nature of your role.
  • Professional Development: Access to expert supervision, annual psychology conferences, CPD training, and specialised risk assessment workshops.
  • Varied, Stimulating Work: Diverse clinical challenges that foster your professional growth.
  • Collaborative Team Culture: Work alongside highly skilled colleagues in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Flexible Work Arrangements: Full-time, part-time, or job-share options to suit your lifestyle.

What You Bring:

  • Full registration as a psychologist with PsyBA/AHPRA.
  • Postgraduate degree (master's or higher) in a relevant specialist area (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Counselling Psychology, Forensic Psychology) with at least two years of supervised professional training OR equivalent education, training and experience recognised by the Department (e.g., APS College membership).
  • Broad, expert specialist knowledge and high-level clinical skills, including independent judgement and diagnostic ability.
  • Experience and passion for forensic or correctional psychology, with knowledge of criminogenic risk factors and offender rehabilitation principles.
  • Resilience, professionalism, and ethical integrity in high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness to travel within NSW as required.
