About the role

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Youth Support Worker to join the team at Safe Living NQ, a leading organisation supporting young people and families in the Mareeba and Cairns region. In this contract role, you will be responsible for providing compassionate and holistic support to vulnerable young people, helping them to overcome challenges, build resilience and unlock their full potential.

What you'll be doing

Delivering one-on-one case management and mentoring to young people, following personalised support plans to address their unique needs.

Collaborating in group programs that promote positive youth development, social inclusion and life skills.

Advocating for young people and connecting them with relevant services and resources in the community.

Maintaining detailed case notes and reporting on client progress.

Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of youth workers, counsellors and other professionals.

Ensuring compliance with all organisational policies, procedures and relevant legislation.

What we're looking for

Relevant Cert IV qualification or willing to enrol in a relevant Cert IV qualification in youth work, social work, psychology or a related field.

Demonstrated experience working with young people, particularly those facing complex challenges.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with vulnerable clients.

Excellent problem-solving, case management and time management capabilities.

Passion for supporting young people and a commitment to making a positive difference in their lives.

Working knowledge of youth-specific services and resources in the Mareeba, Tablelands and Cairns region.

Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
