About the role:
We are seeking a skilled Building Surveyor to join a high functioning team to assess applications in line with legislation, while providing a high level of customer service to our residents and stakeholders.
This role is responsible for the processing of all aspects of Building Surveying that are necessary to ensure buildings comply with the Building Permits and Certificates issued and are built in accordance with the relevant statutory legislation and City requirements.
Key duties include addressing public and staff inquiries, complaints and correspondence related to building matters. Ensuring a customer-focused approach, liaising with other staff, local authorities and government organisations.
Additionally, the role involves conducting site inspections of buildings during construction, preparing reports for Council meetings, monitoring non-complying activities and inspecting dangerous structures.
About you:
Proven experience in building industry or Local Government surveying, with a strong ability to interpret and apply Building Legislation, the Building Code of Australia, Regulations, Residential Design Codes, Australian Standards, and relevant policies.
To be successful you will have strong interpersonal skills with demonstratable abilities in conflict resolution and negotiation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment when needed, coupled with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy are critical aspects of this role.
The ideal applicant will hold a relevant Building Surveying Practitioner Certificate of Registration.
