The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Employee Safety, Wellbeing and Inclusion Division (ESWID) is committed to the department's vision to create healthy and safe working and learning environments for department employees to thrive and succeed.
ESWID performs its functions through five branches that span prevention, response and recovery, as well as strategy, advice and support. These teams adopt a holistic approach for supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce across schools, central and regional offices. This includes occupational health and safety (OHS) and workers' compensation policy advice and support, for both physical and psychosocial wellbeing. The objectives of the division are to:
- promote positive wellbeing in learning and working environments
- prevent against known and expected risks to health, safety and wellbeing
- respond swiftly and effectively to manage potential issues as they emerge and prevent injuries
- support employees to recover from injury and illness, and return to work.
About the Role
The Employee Wellbeing Response Team (EWRT) leads the coordination of early response mental health and wellbeing supports for school staff in significant distress and at risk of injury, primarily through the Employee Wellbeing Support Services (EWSS).
The Team also leads the delivery and contract management of the Early Intervention Program, a bespoke mental health support service which is aimed at providing support to staff with specialised and escalated mental health needs. Initially developed as part of the Principal Health and Wellbeing Strategy, the Early Intervention Program now offers dedicated, private allied health and psychological support services to those department employees most in need, based on wellbeing risk factors and other criteria.
The Project Advisor in the EWRT provides administrative support and coordinated assistance to the EWRT. This role helps empower the team to provide effective risk management, advice, guidance, referral and capability building to respond to complex and high risk health safety and wellbeing issues involving DE staff.
The Project Advisor will work as part of the EWRT and will have:
- the ability to develop, monitor and improve team workflow systems and processes including maintaining
the team's case and records management systems
- the ability to support and enable the team to provide high quality and effective risk management and link employees to supports and services that minimise the risk of injury or harm
- high level coordination skills, including the coordination of mental health and wellbeing supports to schools and corporate groups
- the ability to support the team's day to day operations including assisting with the comprehensive triage of EduSafe Plus
- high level administrative skills to enable support for invoicing (ORACLE) for the Early Intervention Program, Employee Wellbeing Support Services and team invoices for standby, travel and accommodation
- the ability to support the team with administrative and data management tasks including reporting and data analysis

- relevant qualification and / or experience in supporting project management and / or contract management.
- demonstrated skills or experience supporting an operational team
