About the Role
The Employee Relations Team plays a vital role in delivering high-quality advice to ensure that schools achieve their future-ready goals while remaining compliant with legislative obligations.
As a Employee Relations Advisor, you will be a key member of this collaborative team, providing expert guidance on a diverse range of complex employee relations matters. You will work closely with school employers and principals to navigate employment issues, enterprise agreements, employee concerns, contracts of employment, salaries, and policy interpretation. You will also contribute to the development of policies and offer support in managing complex cases and projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Interpretation of industrial instruments and policies
- Managing employer concerns related to performance or conduct
- Conflict resolution strategies
- Supporting ill and injured employees
- Delivery of training for school leaders and principals
- Policy Development & Improvement: Lead and contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of employee relations policies that align with the unique needs ofschools.
- Employee Relations Advisory: Provide high-quality, responsive, and strategic employee relations advice and services across a broad spectrum of matters, including:
- Complex Case Management: Undertake, coordinate, and manage complex employee relations cases and projects with minimal support, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including school employers, principals, and relevant external bodies, ensuring alignment on employee relations matters.
- Training & Support: Provide guidance and training for principals and school leaders to ensure the effective management of employee relations issues.
- Case Management & Resolution: Offer practical and effective solutions for managing and resolving workplace issues, helping schools manage performance, conduct, and other employment concerns.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior employee relations role, preferably within the education sector or similar environments.
- Deep knowledge of Australian industrial relations legislation, enterprise agreements, and relevant policies.
- Expertise in conflict resolution, performance management, and managing ill/injured employees.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases with minimal supervision, maintaining high standards of professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to advise and influence senior school leaders and external stakeholders.
- High level of analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex and sensitive issues.
- Experience in delivering training and policy development in a fast-paced environment.
