Job location
Our Corporate Office is located at Thomas Embling Hospital just 15 minutes north of the city. Due to our announced expansion across all Directorates, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team to support our growing services. Our Directorates includes Thomas Embling Hospital, Prison Operations and our Community Directorate with highly skilled disciplines including Nursing, Lived Experience, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry, Psychologists and Social Work. We have an outstanding L&D and discipline Educator co-hort that continually upskill our already skilled and supportive team.
About the Role:
The Internal Communications Adviser is part of Forensicare’s Internal Communication team which is responsible for the development and implementation of effective and innovative internal communication strategies across Forensicare.
The role is primarily responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of internal communication activities and provides general support to the communications team as required.
Working in collaboration with the Communications team the Internal Communications Adviser will partner with key internal stakeholders to plan and execute multi-channel communications campaigns to ensure teams are kept informed and motivated to deliver Forensicare’s strategic priorities and vision.
Duties:
- Devise and implement coordinated internal communications campaigns, events and activities in line with strategic priorities.
- Plan, edit, write and review content for key internal communications channels, including intranet, staff, and CEO updates.
- Project manage and provide support for the design, production and distribution of internal communications campaigns.
- Support staff to uphold visual brand with templates and resources as required to ensure consistency of visual identity.
- Develop and coordinate the annual internal content and event calendar as well as ensuring ad hoc requests received through a shared inbox are executed within short time frames.
- Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums, reflect the Forensicare brand and tone for internal stakeholders.
- Act as an internal champion of communications and apply a strategic lens to work requests; providing the business with strategic internal solutions that are best practice.
About You:
- A proven track record of planning and delivering successful internal communications plans and campaigns
- An understanding of the importance of storytelling that supports organisational purpose and brand in action in written, video or graphic form
- A demonstrated understanding of the strategic opportunities included in an internal communications function, including being and advocate and promoting best practice at Forensicare.
- Experience in building positive stakeholder relationships that build trust, credibility and deliver mutual outcomes
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and connect the dots between differing initiatives to engage people in our future vision through stories and content
- Demonstrated experience working with web and intranet platforms and digital tools like SharePoint, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite.

Our story
Forensicare (Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health) is the state-wide specialist provider of forensic mental health services in Victoria. Forensicare is the only agency in Victoria that provides clinical forensic mental health services which span all components of the mental health and criminal justice sectors – giving Forensicare a unique perspective on mental health and public safety issues. It is able to provide specialist forensic mental health services tailored to meet the specific needs of both sectors.
We provide forensic mental health services for people:
with a serious mental illness in the criminal justice system
at risk of offending who pose a risk to themselves or others
referred from the general mental health system for specialist advice, support and/or treatment.
Forensicare’s primary focus is the provision of clinical services within a recovery framework. These services include the effective assessment, treatment and management of forensic patients, prisoners and clients.
