Warrnambool City Council is seeking a dedicated Community Development Officer to lead vital initiatives that strengthen connections to place, raise awareness of culture and knowledge and support the improvement of community health and wellbeing.
About the Role
As Community Development Officer, you will help shape Council’s policies and programs to reflect cultural knowledge, promote inclusion, and enhance community resilience. Working within the Health Engaged Communities team and reporting to the Service Manager, you will play a pivotal role in building meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities; and supporting the implementation of Warrnambool City Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in the education of Council staff regarding the sharing of opportunities that promote cultural awareness, inclusive services, practices and facilities.
· Establish and maintain, on behalf of Council, ongoing partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, communities and organisations.
· Develop and lead programs that assist in promoting and empowering local community groups.
About You
You are a community-minded individual with a strong commitment to reconciliation and cultural awareness. You have experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and understand the importance of inclusive, evidence-based program design. You are skilled at fostering partnerships, facilitating community engagement, and influencing positive organisational change.

The Benefits
This is a permanent full time position with a current starting annual salary of $87,860 per annum plus superannuation.
