Lower Murray Water (LMW) is a water corporation providing water services to urban and rural customers along the Murray River, from Wemba-Wemba Land (Kerang) through to Latji Latji Land (South Australian border). With just over 200 staff located in and around Mildura, Swan Hill, Kerang and Robinvale, we are responsible for servicing around 80,000 customers.

We are seeking a proactive and adaptable individual to join our Risk and Resilience team, supporting the organisation in managing risks, preparing for emergencies, and providing guidance during crises to ensure a resilient future for our region and communities.

About the role:

Reporting to the Manager Risk and Resilience, this dynamic role will contribute to the design and delivery of enterprise risk management, emergency management, business continuity, and cybersecurity programs, while also stepping up to support the organisation during escalating risks or emergency incidents.

Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Contribute to the review and implementation of key governance documentation related to our enterprise risk management, emergency management, and cybersecurity functions.

Drive enhancements and ongoing support for the identification, assessment, and review of enterprise risks across LMW’s operations.

Provide guidance and support to teams to manage escalating risks or emergency incidents and to enhance organisational preparedness and response.

Lead the delivery of training programs to build risk and resilience capabilities across the organisation.

Coordinate risk and emergency management testing and reporting to meet legislative obligations.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen LMW’s resilience to incidents like extreme weather, pandemics, or cyber threats.

Promote a safety-first and risk-informed culture aligned with LMW’s strategic goals.

About you:

We’re looking for a dedicated and systems-oriented person who thrives in complex environments, works collaboratively and holistically manner and who is ready to step up during a crisis. To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience or the enthusiasm to learn:

Knowledge or experience in risk management, emergency management, or a related field.

Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and support diverse stakeholders, especially under pressure.

A proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving and a commitment to fostering a safety-first culture.

An ability to think strategically and understand how to effectively work in a system, both within a team and across an organisation.

Enthusiasm for developing systems and documenting processes to improve organisational preparedness and resilience.

About Lower Murray Water

Swan Hill, VIC, Australia

Lower Murray Urban and Rural Water Authority was created under the provisions of the Water Act 1989 via Order in Council effective 1st of July 2004. It assumed the whole of the property, rights, liabilities, obligations, powers and functions under the Water Act 1989 of the Lower Murray Region Water Authority and Sunraysia Rural Water Authority. LMW reports to the Minister for Water, Environment & Climate Change Ms Lisa Neville.

The Water (Governance Act) 2006 varied the form and title of Lower Murray Water and established new governance arrangements effective from 1st July 2007. Lower Murray Urban and Rural Water Authority is now Lower Murray Urban and Rural Water Corporation.

On 19th August 2008 a Ministerial Determination under Section 87 of the Water Act 1989, appointed Lower Murray Urban and Rural Water Corporation to take over the whole of the functions, powers and duties of First Mildura Irrigation Trust under the Act, including its functions in respect of all of its districts under the Act.
