What is the role?
The Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) was established in 2018 by the Australian Government to drive a collaborative national response to counter the online exploitation of children. The AFP leads the ACCCE, which brings together capabilities from across the Commonwealth, law enforcement, non-government organisations, and other partners to build capability and drive a collaborative national response to counter the exploitation of children in Australia.
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the position of Team Leader ACCCE Technical Capability Unit (TCU). The TCU integrates new and improved technologies to enhance the ACCCE's National capabilities and worldwide efforts in fighting online child sexual exploitation. This includes management of the ACCCE network and dedicated child protection systems in partnership with Chief Information Officer (CIO) Command.
As a Team Leader you play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agenda, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?
Team Leader TCU responsibilities will include:
- Accountable for managing and leading a technical team, including managing allocated resources, setting workflows, developing strategies, training and evaluating business outcomes.
- Lead the support for the ACCCE Operations, AFP Joint Anti Child Exploitation Teams (JACET) teams and State and Territory Police, that require specialist ICT support in Child Protection Investigations.
- Lead communication with CIO Command for ICT incidents, problems and planned work for the ACCCE Network.
- Monitor and control TCU DevOps and ServiceNow backlogs.
- Work closely with Deliver Manager / Product Manager to support the delivery of ACCCE technical roadmap and associated projects.
- Technical Liaison for ACCCE Superintendents, Team Leaders and JACETs.
- Lead the identification and mitigation of risks and issues with ACCCE technical support.
- Assist TCU team members when required to support taskforces and other priorities e.g. critical projects.
- Responsible for ACCCE trend analysis to inform Capability Gaps or Problem Management.
- Responsible for the PDA and Training for all TCU team members.
- Assist Delivery Manager / Product Owner with Business Continuity Planning Technical Response.
- Providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to TCU team members to improve their skills and performance.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Relevant qualification or extensive experience and expertise in Information Technology.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in a technical leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of digital technologies and appreciation of technical development methodologies (i.e. Agile, DevOps).
- Ability to complete psychological clearance (Requirement for the role).
Desirable Requirements
The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
- Qualifications or experience in managing complex ICT projects
Additional Information
- This is an AFP Band 8 role.
- The role is based within the ACCCE in Brisbane, however consideration may be given to the successful applicant working from another AFP location.
- This role attracts a composite allowance in recognition of expanded working hours, normal patterns of attendance and shift patterns (such as afternoon shifts, weekends and Designated Public Holidays) that are required under the Operations working pattern. In accordance with the AFP Enterprise Agreement, an employee who is required to work in accordance with the Operations working pattern will receive a Core Composite of 22% in addition to their base salary, which will count as salary for superannuation. The Commissioner has the authority to remove a composite from a role.
