About the opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health is seeking a Team Leader, Technical and Laboratory Services to lead the bioscience lab team supporting teaching and research. The Faculty offers a multidisciplinary, innovative learning environment with programs including nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, and more. With a strong focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and culturally appropriate care in partnership with Indigenous communities, this role is central to maintaining high-quality technical support across bioscience activities. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Provide effective leadership and management of the technical and laboratory services team, including planning, coordinating workflows, and aligning team resources to meet operational needs
- Foster a positive, high-performance culture by mentoring, motivating, and supporting team members to achieve individual and team goals
- Monitor team performance and wellbeing, provide constructive feedback, and proactively address performance or behavioural concerns
- Identify skill gaps and training needs within the team, coordinate or deliver professional development activities to build capability and ensure future readiness
- Promote collaboration and clear communication within the team and with key stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and alignment with Faculty priorities.
About you
You will be passionate about leading high-performing teams, supporting student learning through excellence in clinical and laboratory services, and contributing to improved health outcomes through innovation and collaboration. More specifically, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and substantial experience in a clinical skills, laboratory, or higher education environment, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Proven leadership and team coordination capabilities, with demonstrate experience in managing operations and guiding staff to meet strategic and day to day goals
- A strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety regulations applicable to laboratories and clinical environments, with a track record of ensuring compliance and promoting a safe workplace
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and apply critical and reflective thinking to inform decisions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms
Salary and benefits

- Full-time, continuing (permanent)
- Located at Gold Coast, QLD 4225. Generous relocation support available.
- HEW Level 7. The base salary ranges from $104,697 - $113,681 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $133,006.
