About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled Control and Automation Technician for our Richlands office to design, program, commission and maintain control systems. You will be involved with working on packaging machinery, conveyor control, machine safety, motion control, vision applications and others. You’ll collaborate with engineers and technicians, with some travel for site support across Australia, ensuring top performance in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
· Program and debug PLCs/HMIs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron and others)
· Integrate PLCs, SCADA, and HMI platforms (Rockwell FTView, Siemens WinCC, Citect, Ignition).
· Provide on-site/remote troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintenance for automation systems.
· Electrical design using SolidWorks Electrical: single line diagrams, schematics, termination diagrams, layouts.
· Train clients, liaise with suppliers, and optimize equipment performance.
· Contribute to R&D, data utilization, and new equipment commissioning.
· Travel for support/commissioning and collaborate cross-functionally.
· Provide technical support to the rest of the team and clients as needed.
What You’ll Bring
· Electrical/controls trade qualification (TAFE Certificate/Qualified Electrician) or Bachelor’s in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering.
· White Card, QLD Class C Licence.
· Proven experience working with SolidWorks Electrical or similar software developing complete electrical drawings.
· Proven experience developing complete PLC code in Rockwell software.
· Proven knowledge of the Rockwell PLC and HMI product range.
· Proven experience developing complete PLC code in Siemen step 7 and TIA software.
· Proven knowledge of the siemens PLC and HMI product range.
· Proven experience working with ignition SCADA.
· Knowledge of machine safety.
· Industrial automation experience in food, beverage, pharma, packaging or similar industries.
· Control System design and fault-finding.
· Strong problem-solving, diagnostics, and communication.
· Motivated, flexible, thrives in high-pressure settings.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.
· Passionate about control systems and desire to learn.
