About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Child and Maternal Health aim is to support parents, infants and children from preconception and early pregnancy through to middle childhood (12 years of age) to enhance family functioning and promote childhood development and parental wellbeing. The Birthing in Our Community (BiOC) project is underpinned by a collaborative agreement between three Brisbane-based organisations: The IUIH, the Mater Hospital, and the Brisbane Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service (ATSICHS). A new model of maternity care aims to provide comprehensive and culturally safe maternal and infant health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, their infants and families.

About the Role?

The Administration Officer will provide customer service and administrative support to ensure the effective daily operation of the AFPP including customer service via all channels, receiving and managing referrals, supporting data systems, assistance with management of data and production of management reports when required.

Day to Day duties include:

  • Perform with limited supervision a broad range of administrative support functions including organising forms, photocopies, files, orders, program materials and educational handouts; and make reminder calls for visits as requested by the Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Home Visitor and Family Partnership Workers to assist with ANFP Program delivery and follow-up as required
  • Monitor and manage administration systems to ensure effective storage, maintenance and operation of Program assets and resources for use by ANFP field staff as needed
  • Maintain the ANFPP referral log and manage “referral in” process
  • Work closely and foster productive relationships with all hospital, clinic, program, allied health and specialist staff
  • Foster linkages with relevant government agencies, hospitals, key antenatal and postnatal providers, and non-government and community organisations

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Current Blue Card
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
