Position Summary
The Data Governance and Integration Group (DGIG) core functions include leading the development of the Institute’s strategies for acquiring, managing and integrating major data linkage systems, and carrying out record linkage of data sets relating to health and community services.
DGIG is responsible for delivering AIHW’s integration activities covering the National Health Data Hub integrated system, the AIHW bespoke linkage program and supporting the National Disability Data Asset (NDDA).
The Linkage Client Services Unit (LCSU) supports research and policy development by providing secure access to linked data, informing health and welfare policies and improving public health outcomes.
LCSU is the front door for all work involving AIHW's National Health Data Hub (NHDH, The Hub), as well as setting up so-called 'bespoke linkages': tailored linking of two or more government (S/T and / or Commonwealth) and / or academic, administrative or otherwise mostly external datasets.
The Unit supports the end-to-end process through liaison with the clients, including (where applicable to the respective project) feasibility assessment, ethics and data custodian clearance, data transfer to AIHW's linkers, return of data to clients, alongside advice and guidance, or, in case of the Hub training.
LCSU is currently looking for a Client Services lead for the NHDH, who will, under general direction:
- Lead client engagement & support
o Assisting researchers, other government agencies, and other clients in accessing and utilising linked data provided through the Hub.
o Maintain regular and as-needed contact with external stakeholders and clients and work with internal teams to support NHDH governance and strategic direction.
- Oversee data access & governance – ensuring clients’ compliance with NHDH’s operational guidelines and data-sharing protocols while facilitating secure access to health data.
- Project Coordination – managing requests for data linkage, overseeing approvals, ensuring efficient processing of applications and facilitating seamless and efficient information management.
- Technical & Analytical Guidance – provide expert advice on data availability, project timelines and all relevant internal and external processes to maintain effective and efficient use of data in the Hub.
- Policy & Compliance Oversight – ensuring adherence to data security, ethical standards, and regulatory frameworks.
