The Opportunities:

The department is seeking talented and driven people to support the policy development and delivery of enabling services for the department. Multiple roles are available with a range of focus areas including:

• Audit and Compliance

• Cabinet, Ministerial and Parliamentary

• Client Services (including consular and passports)

• Crisis Management and Contingency Planning

• Data Analysis

• Finance

• Fraud, Corruption and Enterprise Integrity

• Governance and Enterprise Risk

• Human Resources

• Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

• Legal

• Media and Strategic Communications

• Procurement and Contract Management

• Property and Facilities Management

• Protocol and Executive Services

• Security

• Strategic Planning

The initial vacancies to be filled from this process are based in Canberra. This process may be used to fill roles in other locations in Australia and overseas.

Our ideal candidates:

Our ideal APS Level 4 candidates will:

• be confident providing sound advice and information on corporate programs, activities, and services

• be capable of prioritising and managing tasks, monitoring workflow, and communicating issues that may impact on the work area

• demonstrate functional expertise in the area of capability and a good understanding of applicable legislation and policy frameworks relevant to the role

• communicate ideas and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of business processes.

• participate in strategic planning and decision making within the work area

• work under general direction and exercise judgement with respect to how procedures and guidelines are interpreted and applied

• be a confident communicator, both verbally and in writing

• demonstrate an ability to actively build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Our ideal APS Level 5 candidates will:

• demonstrate an ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations

• have a well-developed understanding of applicable legislation and policy frameworks relevant to the role, and an ability to provide advice and make decisions based on sound subject matter knowledge

• have a demonstrated ability to work under limited guidance, identify problems or issues and resolve them or raise with management

• be capable of exercising judgement, making independent decisions and being accountable for outcomes

• be willing to guide and support less experienced staff to achieve goals by providing guidance and quality assurance

• be a confident communicator with well-developed written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to target communications to diverse audiences.

• a confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent form executed by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation; or

• two statutory declarations confirming you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australian. The first declaration must be completed by you and the second declaration can be completed by an Indigenous Service Provider (e.g. a University Support Unit or an Indigenous Medical Service) or an APS employee, who is also Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
