Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist

Are you passionate about empowering individuals with vision impairment to navigate the world with confidence? We're looking for a dedicated Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist to provide life-changing support, helping clients develop their independence and mobility skills.

About the Role

In this rewarding position, you will:
✅Deliver individualised O&M programs, including cane training, route travel, public transport navigation, and orientation strategies.
✅Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop tailored mobility plans.
✅Train clients in the use of assistive technology, such as GPS systems and electronic mobility devices.
✅Work with individuals across diverse environments-from homes and workplaces to public spaces.
✅Provide guidance to clients with additional disabilities and tailor training to their specific needs.
✅Educate families, carers, and professionals on best practices for supporting individuals with vision impairment.
✅Collaborate with NDIS and My Aged Care providers to ensure clients receive appropriate support services.
✅Maintain accurate case documentation and contribute to service development initiatives.

About You

To excel in this role, you will have:
✨A tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy or Education with a Masters or Diploma in Orientation & Mobility or Sensory Disability.
✨Experience in providing O&M services to individuals of all ages.
✨Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
✨The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
✨A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel across metropolitan and regional areas.
✨Willingness to stay overnight in regional areas when required
