We are located in Yarraville, Victoria, with projects throughout Victoria and Southern NSW.
This is a great opportunity to be involved in interesting projects with a good balance of fieldwork and office-based work.
We require an engineering geologist with at least two years of relevant experience in the civil construction and mining industry.
What we do
Our focus is on the following project types:
Bridge investigations.
Landslides, cliff instability, coastal instability.
Larger scale multi-residential developments in difficult ground.
Commercial sites (warehouses, factories etc).
Ground improvement (dynamic compaction, high energy impact compaction, lime/cement stabilisation).
Pile testing (Pile Integrity Testing, Dynamic Load Testing).
Seismic investigations (Multi-channel Analysis of Surface Waves).
Sinkholes and cave/karst instability.
What you will do:
You will be responsible for the following:
Developing and managing geotechnical investigations for our clients.
Conducting geotechnical, geophysical and geological field work.
Geotechnical and geological data interpretation and analysis.
Writing interpretive and factual reports for our clients.
Relevant Qualifications
The candidate requires the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or Geoscience.
Hold a valid Australian manual driver license.
Hold a valid construction induction card (White Card).
Relevant Skills
You will require relevant skills such as:
Geological field observation & mapping.
Geological and geotechnical soil and rock logging.
Be comfortable organising others (subcontractors) and talking to site personnel (site project managers, foremen etc).
Be comfortable problem solving and discussing issues in person and over the phone.
Be proficient with the design of high-level and deep footings.
Be proficient in writing clear proposals and reports.
Willingness to work outside in a variety of conditions following safe working procedures.
Willingness to travel and stay away from home, sometimes in remote places.
Relevant Experience
The candidate requires relevant skills such as:
Minimum of 2 years relevant experience e.g. as part of a geotechnical consultancy / exploration geology / mine geology.
On site experience.
Drill rig supervision.
Previous exposure to proposal preparation and technical report writing.
What we will provide

On-site training (for example, borehole logging, landslide mapping).
Exposure to in-situ testing methods (for example, Cone Penetration Testing, Marchetti Dilatometer Testing).
Office-based training (logging software, analytical software packages, and report writing).
