Your next career opportunity
As the Centre Administrator for MACSYS, you'll have the opportunity to support the world's largest research initiative in mathematical biology. You'll provide crucial administrative and executive support to facilitate innovative research that combines mathematics, computation, and biology. Your role will be instrumental in establishing a world-leading research and biotechnology translation environment, with a strong emphasis on equity and diversity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide Executive Support: Manage calendars, communications, and administrative tasks for senior leadership, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

  • Facilitate Meetings and Events: Organise committees, prepare documents, take minutes, and coordinate workshops and conferences.

  • Manage Communications: Draft correspondence, reports, and presentations, maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders.

  • Streamline Processes: Implement continuous improvement activities to enhance administrative efficiency and maintain effective record management systems.

You may be a great fit if:
​​You are an experienced administrator with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide high-quality support in a complex, fast-paced research environment.​

You may also:

  • Have substantial relevant skills and work experience in administrative and executive support.

  • Possess excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Have well-developed computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a team, exercising sound judgment and initiative.

  • Have experience in drafting correspondence, presentations, and reports with high accuracy.

Your new team - "ARC Centre of Excellence for the Mathematical Analysis of Cellular Systems (MACSYS)"
Established in 2024, our interdisciplinary team at MACSYS brings together biologists, computer scientists, physicists and mathematicians at various career stages to actively tackle the mathematical modelling of bacterial and yeast cells.
We do both laboratory-based and computational experiments, whilst also leveraging our diverse network of national and international partner organisations to maximise the impacts of our collaborative work.
In addition to the senior Academic staff, the Node will employ and train multiple early-career researchers and graduate students over the Centre's seven years of operation. We are seeking a highly capable professional staff member to join the Professional Staff team and support the aspirations of the MACSYS research and training agenda.
The MACSYS team is coordinated across five universities who contribute to our research and cultural activity, with the lead node established at The University of Melbourne within the Faculty of Science.
