Your next career opportunity

As the Centre Stakeholder Engagement Officer for MACSYS, you'll have the opportunity to drive strategic partnerships and enhance the impact of innovative mathematical research in cellular systems. You'll work closely with leading researchers across five prestigious Australian universities, identifying and developing new partnerships with industry and government agencies. Your role will be crucial in translating MACSYS's vision into action, ensuring the Centre's research is strongly integrated into national and international communities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop Strategic Partnerships: Identify opportunities for collaborations, liaise with stakeholders, and establish connections with domestic and international partners.

  • Support Research Objectives: Build and sustain effective working relationships with colleagues, research collaborators, and other stakeholders to facilitate research goals.

  • Manage Communication and Engagement: Prepare reports, administer questionnaires, and provide information to partners, ensuring a proactive 'no surprises' approach.

  • Contribute to Centre Committees: Work closely with the Translation & Partner Engagement Committee and the Strategic Research Committee to convert their vision into actionable plans.

​​You are a highly organised professional with postgraduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience, possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders in a complex research environment.​

You may also:

  • Have postgraduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience in a related field.

  • Possess highly-developed planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrate excellent operational management skills and the ability to provide authoritative specialist advice.

  • Have experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with partners and organisations.

  • Excel in written and verbal communication, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders and negotiate positive outcomes.

  • Show a strong understanding of confidentiality, privacy, and research ethics principles.

Your new team - "ARC Centre of Excellence for the Mathematical Analysis of Cellular Systems (MACSYS)"
Established in 2024, our interdisciplinary team at MACSYS brings together biologists, computer scientists, physicists and mathematicians at various career stages to actively tackle the mathematical modelling of bacterial and yeast cells.

We do both laboratory-based and computational experiments, whilst also leveraging our diverse network of national and international partner organisations to maximise the impacts of our collaborative work.

In addition to the senior Academic staff, the Node will employ and train multiple early-career researchers and graduate students over the Centre's seven years of operation. We are seeking a highly capable professional staff member to join the Professional Staff team and support the aspirations of the MACSYS research and training agenda.

The MACSYS team is coordinated across five universities who contribute to our research and cultural activity, with the lead node established at The University of Melbourne within the Faculty of Science.
