About the role

You will lead FNF’s On Country program, our train the trainer model that focuses on embedding financial literacy education in communities on a national scale. You will lead a small team of First Nations trainers to deliver Financial Fitness workshops and FNF’s proven train the trainer model across a wide range of community cohorts.

A central focus of your role is to build and actively maintain relationships with key community organisations, financial counsellors and capability workers, as well as stakeholders in the financial services sector. You will have the ability to formalise and manage these partnerships, while also managing multiple and competing demands, often including interstate travel.

You will be an experienced and engaging facilitator who becomes an expert in the delivery of FNF’s Financial Fitness training and our two day Train the Trainer model. You will also mentor the junior trainers in how to effectively deliver these training packages to a variety of First Nations community audiences.

Additionally, you will be a key facilitator in the delivery of cultural competency training to finance sector professionals, through FNF’s Culture & Money program. You’ll be able to draw on your professional and lived experience to deliver workshops that help banks, super funds and insurers, as well as other finance sector groups to better service their customers and clients.

Throughout all aspects of your role you will work closely with the team leaders of other business areas, including Youth Education, Regional and Remote Servicing, Operations, Partnerships and Impact & Fundraising teams. This role will report to the Managing Director.

Duties & responsibilities

Initiate, formalise and manage internal and external strategic relationships with community and finance sector organisations, specifically for the effective delivery of FNF’s education programs.

Mentor and provide day to day leadership of a small team of First Nations community development and training staff (currently 3 people) who also work virtually and travel regularly for the delivery of training.

Actively embed FNF’s existing Impact Measurement framework into the delivery of all community and finance sector education programs, ensuring the collection of data that demonstrates program effectiveness. Hold ultimate responsibility for ensuring that your training team also collect and communicate this data.

Monitor and report performance outcomes to the Executive team and Board of Directors, ensuring agreed targets are achieved within FNF’s strategic plan and corporate partnership arrangements.

Participate in product development and content creation to innovate and develop new ways of creating positive outcomes for communities.

As required, support the delivery of other key initiatives such as FNF’s outreach events, finance sector engagements, research, and stakeholder meetings.

Attend conferences, workshops and events to speak on behalf of FNF in the line with the leadership and advocacy plan.

Experience, Skills and Attributes:

Extensive experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations.

Strong skills in the development, facilitation, presentation and evaluation of education and training programs.

Experience in identifying training needs and analysing gaps.

Strong skills in establishing, formalising and growing both community and corporate partnerships.

Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise multiple competing tasks and stakeholders in a high pressure environment.

High level written and oral communication skills.

Experience managing a dispersed workforce.

Ability to work flexible hours and travel approximately once per month for up to a week at a time.

Excellent inter-personal skills to engage, negotiate, facilitate and liaise with community, stakeholders and colleagues at all levels of the organisation.

Autonomy and Organisation Skills: Ability to work autonomously is paramount. You will receive guidance and support but will need to independently plan and prioritise multiple and competing demands, while managing a high impact team.

Education:

Equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation, across the community development discipline.

Compliance:

A Working with Children Check is a mandatory requirement for this role.

As this is primarily a work from home/remote working role, you will need to have access to a safe and confidential workspace and have a reliable internet connection.
