Sheetmetal Production Operator – Full Time

Location: Fyshwick, ACT

38 hrs/week | Casual to Permanent | Immediate Start Available | Early Knock Off Fridays.

Arkus Industries is a locally owned and operated business based in Fyshwick. We manufacture high-quality flashings, architectural sheetmetal, and custom outdoor products for builders, roofers, landscapers, and project managers across Canberra and beyond. We’re growing—and we’re after people who want to grow with us.

Your day-to-day will include:

Operating a slitter/folder, guillotine, and other general fabrication machinery

Cutting, folding, and assembling flashings and custom metal components

Reading job specs, cutting lists, and working from basic drawings

Assisting with the loading and unloading of materials, including helping customers and suppliers

Maintaining a clean and organised factory and yard as part of your core responsibilities

Supporting the team during peak periods by helping out where needed across the workshop

Running deliveries to site as needed.

We’re looking for someone who:

Has experience in sheetmetal fabrication (folder operation experience preferred)

Is comfortable working with mild steel, aluminium, and Colorbond®

Has a solid understanding of workshop tools and safe operation

Possesses strong math, reading, and comprehension skills to interpret job specs and complete tasks with accuracy

Pays close attention to detail and takes ownership of their work

Holds a C-Class Driver’s Licence (essential)

Holds or is willing to obtain a Forklift Licence (we’ll reimburse the cost after 12 months if you need to obtain this)

Is dependable, team-minded, and shows up with a good attitude

Is available for reasonable overtime during peak periods

Is looking for long-term, stable work—not just a stopgap

What you’ll get:

Casual to permanent role after a 6-week trial period

38-hour week: Monday to Thursday 7:00am–3:30pm, Fridays 7:00am–1:00pm

4 weeks annual leave + 10 personal days once permanent. Minimum 2 Week shutdown over Christmas/ New Year
