Standalone payroll manager position

IMMEDIATE Start on an initial 3 months contract. Strong view to extend or permanency

TOM People and I have partnered with an established construction company to recruit an experienced Payroll Manager for a stand-alone opportunity. Working within a wider finance team, this role will report to the CFO and work alongside with the wider finance team.

Note: Hands on experience in end-to-end payroll within a complex payroll is a must.

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

Ensure compliance with EBAs, payroll legislation, and tax obligations.

Partner with finance and HR teams on payroll reporting, forecasting, and reconciliations.

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency.

Manage external payroll providers, audits, and statutory reporting requirements.

Qualifications

Experience as a Payroll Manager role within a large, complex environment

Industry experience in construction, property development, engineering, or infrastructure preferred.

Strong knowledge of EBAs, awards, payroll tax, superannuation, and compliance regulations.

Proven experience leading payroll transformation, system upgrades, and process automation.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills
