About the Role
As a Project Officer, you will be a key support resource for the MDHSS—a collaborative initiative between OIR, Resources Safety and Health Queensland, and WorkCover Queensland. The service provides health screening, information, and practical support to workers impacted by mine dust lung diseases.
This role will allow you to apply your administrative, customer service, and project coordination skills to make a real difference. You will work across agencies, liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, and contribute to programs that promote better worker health outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering high-quality administrative and project support across WCRS initiatives.
- Managing email inboxes, maintaining registers, organising meetings, and preparing project documents including reports, minutes, and correspondence.
- Assisting with grants administration and processing invoices.
- Providing professional and empathetic customer service via email and phone to stakeholders, including current and former mine workers.
- Offering accurate advice about health screening and support services.
- Collaborating with agencies such as Resources Safety and Health Queensland and WorkCover Queensland to ensure coordinated service delivery.
- Maintaining confidentiality and integrity of client information, in line with legislative obligations.
- Recording and reporting activities using CRM systems and tools like Microsoft Excel, Word, Content Manager, and Power BI.
- Drafting clear written communications tailored to different audiences.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who can confidently manage competing priorities while supporting sensitive and high-impact initiatives. You'll need to demonstrate:
- Strong administrative experience in a professional office environment (minimum of 2 years).
- Understanding of or exposure to Queensland's workers' compensation scheme (highly desirable).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage compassionately on sensitive matters.
- Ability to use initiative, work independently, and contribute effectively to a team.
- Well-developed problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Competency in using CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and Power BI.
- A calm and resilient approach when dealing with distressing or emotive situations.
