Reports to: Operations Manager

Primary Purpose

The Engagement Officer should be familiar with Bila Muuji Aboriginal Corporation Health Service and the programs within. The Engagement Officer will be responsible for the development and delivery of active community engagement strategies and initiatives.

The Engagement Officer will be a part of the Keeping Mob Together team and will perform a variety of tasks to ensure higher productivity and efficiency of the project.

Frequent travel is required.

Scope of Position

The Engagement Officer will report directly to the Operations Manager on the overall community engagement projects. The Engagement Officer will have a high-level oversight of the KMT programs community engagement, and strategically work alongside the other KMT team members to ensure program objectives are being fulfilled.

The Engagement Officer will:

Support the development and implementation of community engagement project.

Create effective community engagement program designs and deliverables by identifying communities needs and interest to effectively reach the correct targeted audience.

Display and evaluate stakeholder engagement and communications projects while continually suggesting project ideas for program improvement.

Ensure and adhere to company policy and procedures

Ensure compliance with the relevant legal requirement

Key Responsibilities:

Daily project management

Plan the overall projects for the Keeping Mob Together Program and monitor the ongoing progress

Manage risks and issues

Make day to day decisions regarding project activities

Align deliverables to the Activity Work Plan

Manage relationships with key community organisations and stakeholders

Selection Criteria

Essential

Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander - Aboriginality is a genuine qualification and is authorised by section 14 of the Anti– discrimination Act, 1977

Demonstrated Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and experience working with Aboriginal Health programs or related area

Demonstrated experience in the relevant field (Social Work, Community Services)

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Understanding of Cultural values

Good leadership qualities with the ability to provide direction

Demonstrated experience with computers and software

Desirable

Experience in working in Community Engagement roles or Non-Government Organisations or Aboriginal Controlled Service

Thorough understanding of children and families with multiple and complex needs

Experience in research and community engagement

Additional Requirements

Possession of a current Driver’s License valid in NSW is required

Current National Police Check

Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) number

Current Criminal History check

Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
