  • Multiple temporary part time opportunities working 13.5 hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays until 30 June 2027
  • Casual opportunities also available
  • Salary range commencing at $35.41 + superannuation
  • Community meal delivery, social support and client monitoring

The opportunity

The Community Support team are responsible for assisting to facilitate residents' food security via the provision of delivered meals, community dining opportunities and developing initiatives that support residents' access to affordable food.

The Community Support team also assists residents to remain connected to social, wellbeing and health support services via its Community Transport arm.

Council's Food Security Support Workers are directly responsible for assisting eligible residents to access food supports, and supports which enhance their food security, independence and connection with community.

The successful applicant will:

  • Victorian Driver's Licence
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate
  • Food Handling and Safety Certificate
  • Working With Children Check
  • Certificate III (or be working towards) in relevant disciplines, such as Community Welfare, Home and Community Services, Aged Care, Disability Care, Lifestyle Leisure, Allied Health or Community Services/Development, or equivalent worked experience.
  • Previous experience in working with vulnerable community members.
  • Hold a current and valid:
  • Work independently to deliver meals within the community in an efficient, timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor the health and wellbeing of clients during meal delivery, support visits, community dining and in other occasions when staff interact with clients.
  • Follow Client monitoring and Non-Response Procedures where appropriate. Immediately report issues regarding clients' physical, emotional health and safety to the relevant Team Leader.
  • Transport food in accordance with daily delivery instructions, food safety procedures, and Department of Health regulations.
  • Assist clients with processes which enhance their food security such as ordering, menu selection, meal planning, meal storage, shopping and in-home preparation.
  • Support the Community Support team with the promotion of services and direct communication with clients.
  • Provide support to deliver Community Dining Programs and initiatives which enhance residents access to food security where required.
  • Undertake food relief functions under Emergency Management situations and hygienically safe to use
  • Assist Clients with shopping to ensure that food security is considered and provided
