As an Electrical Technical Advisor, you'll provide expert technical advice, mentor, and support the maintenance team, and help oversee daily maintenance activities across metropolitan Treatment and Resource Recovery Water assets.
This role is the perfect mix of hands-on fieldwork and strategic desk work, giving you the chance to work on both small and large-scale assets.
You'll experience the fast-paced energy of operations while also getting involved in detailed planning for capital projects.
As a full-time permanent team member, you'll be a specialist in electrical consultancy across operations, maintenance, and construction.
Your expertise will cover electrical systems, HV/LV networks, instrumentation, communications, and SCADA assets.

What you will do.
You will be out in the field, closely monitoring the electrical performance of Water Corporation’s water and wastewater assets. You'll spot potential faults and breakdowns before they happen, offering smart, cost-effective solutions to keep things running smoothly.
You’ll be hands-on with audits, inspections, and assessments, ensuring asset performance is consistently monitored while identifying risks for future failures. Your broad perspective will allow you to develop a hub of expertise for electrical equipment maintenance, repair, and refurbishment.
When it comes to operation and maintenance planning, your expert guidance will support your service delivery colleagues in tackling forecasting challenges.
In addition, you may take on critical responsibilities such as:
- Acting as the HV authorised person for the region.
- Serving as the electrical nominee under Water Corporation’s electrical contractor’s licence.
- Overseeing electrical commissioning from fabrication to site acceptance testing.
Your role will also involve diagnosing and resolving electrical issues, using sharp analytical skills to pinpoint failures and underperformance before crafting cost-conscious solutions.
You'll work to enhance electrical and instrumentation maintenance practices, ensuring they align with operational demands. Plus, you will help implement electrical projects, ensuring everything from documentation to commissioning meets specifications, contractual obligations, and manufacturer standards.
And when it comes to major asset failures, you’ll be at the forefront conducting risk assessments, leading root cause analyses, and developing strategies to mitigate potential issues.

We are looking for the following skills and experience:
- Electrical Worker's Licence endorsed or Electrical Engineering degree.
- Experience in infrastructure operations and maintenance, knowledge of water/wastewater services (desirable)
- Experience with both HV and LV systems.
- Understanding of electrical installation, electrical testing, and commissioning
- History of using asset systems with proven data analysis skills and the ability to provide simple technical reports.
- Demonstrated understanding of the legislative and regulatory constraints in the electrical industry and water industry
- C Drivers Licence
