About the role

There is an amazing opportunity for a creative and passionate Literacy Officer to join our contemporary library service.

The role's key responsibilities include delivering high-quality literacy and language assistance, fostering learning, literacy, and social inclusion.

The Literacy Officer is a member of the Greater Dandenong Libraries team, working across all branches and hubs to deliver efficient and effective library and information services. This role may also include providing outreach services to various locations within the City of Greater Dandenong.

The role will supervise staff and ensure the smooth operation of front-of-house Library Services as the rostered Officer in Charge, offering a responsive and flexible service. Experience in providing literacy support to individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds will be essential in meeting the community's diverse needs. By supporting community members in their literacy and learning journeys, the role will promote social inclusion and empower individuals to achieve their goals.

About you

The successful applicant will provide effective and efficient library and information services to all users, demonstrate the ability to network and liaise with a range of internal, private and community agencies and individuals. Offer one-on-one support for written documentation, e-government, homework help, resumes, job applications, and guide patrons in selecting appropriate learning methods and resources.

You may be required to undertake work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacity assessment (physical) or aptitude testing.

The successful candidate will be asked to produce a clear Working with Children Check and will be asked to consent to a national police check (and where relevant an 'international criminal history check'), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
