About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Communications and Engagement Officer.

This role involves managing a diverse workload, including drafting media releases, creating content for project updates, participating in video shoots, and supporting engagement events.

You will assist with planning, production, coordination, and implementation of communications materials, campaigns, and programs across various infrastructure projects.

Additionally, you will write, create, edit, curate, and publish engaging content for our client channels, handle media enquiries, coordinate events, and support community engagement activities.

The Successful Candidate will possess:
Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge

1. Experience in planning and implementing communications strategies, including writing, editing and storytelling for different audiences and for different mediums and channels such as video, social media, websites.
2. Experience in managing multiple tasks, deadlines and priorities across several projects.
3. Good knowledge of contemporary communications and media practices.

Behavioural Capabilities

1. Ability to follow processes, protocols and manage competing priorities in a high-pressure work environment.
2. Ability to liaise, work productively and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
3. Ability to exercise initiative and be innovative, in a complex and dynamic work environment.

Desirable:

1. Relevant tertiary qualifications or a minimum of 3 years’ experience working professionally in the fields of communications and content production, media, public relations, marketing, or strategic communications is preferred.
2. The ability to work flexibly with some out of hours work may be required.

What is on Offer for the Role:

Work Type: 6 month contract until 29th Dec 2025

Location: Canberra

Hourly Rate: $66 to $84

Security Requirements: National Police Check
