About the Role📝

Banana Shire Council is seeking a talented and dedicated Rates and Property Officer to join our dynamic team. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently maintaining Council's property and rating system and assisting with the issue of rate notices and the timely collection of outstanding rates-related debts, whilst providing high-level customer service to all customers.

What you'll be doing 💻

Maintaining accurate property and valuation records, including processing changes and updates

Calculating, issuing, and following up on rate notices and payments

Providing exceptional customer service to ratepayers, responding to queries and resolving issues in a timely manner

Assisting with the preparation of annual rate notices, conducting rate searches and telephone searches

Assist the Rates Coordinator with the preparation, issue and collection of each Half-yearly Rates Levy

Assist the Rates Coordinator with Sale of Land processes in accordance with legislation

Assist with debt recovery and setting up payment commitments for customers

Collaborating with other council departments to ensure the smooth running of property-related processes

Staying up-to-date with relevant legislation and council policies, and ensuring compliance
