About the Position:
The Communications Officer will develop, implement and evaluate communication campaigns and activities that support Council's communication objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Communications Manager and with the assistance of the Senior Communication Officer, this varied role will draw on your broad communications skills to:
- Develop communication campaigns to promote Council initiatives and news to the community and other key stakeholders.
- Prepare media releases and public notices, speeches, and other editorial content for use across a variety of media to promote community awareness of Council decisions, actions and works programs and to disseminate the information appropriately.
- Attend Council Meetings and prepare summaries of often complex issues considered by Council for accurate communication of Council decisions and initiatives to the community and stakeholders.
- Apply understanding of Council priorities and strategies to developing communication strategies and related communication tasks.
- Produce, collate, and edit content for community newsletters and corporate publications.
- Collaborate with internal Council departments to identify, prioritise and prepare important information for distribution to the Maranoa community.
- Generate ideas for media releases and newsletters, as well as track, monitor, and report on media issues relevant to Council decisions and services.
- Assist with maintaining up-to-date information on Council's website.
- Photograph Council events, announcements, and other activities.

Qualifications and Licences:
To be successful you will need to demonstrate that you meet the below mandatory requirements for the role:
- Current C (Car) Class Driver Licence
- Tertiary qualifications (or significant progress towards) Communication, Marketing, Journalism, or relevant experience in the field
Position Details:

- Full-time, permanent position
- Maranoa Regional Council Certified Agreement 2023 - Stream A - Level 4
