We are seeking some sensational superstars to join our skilled Complex Specialist Support Worker team, providing high-level care and support to participants with complex medical needs. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in nursing, paramedicine, emergency medical response, ambulance officers, military & defense medics (reservists), fire and emergency service workers or those currently studying in these fields, or if you are just wishing to take on some extra work for that holiday or special purchase.
You will be responsible for delivering compassionate, professional, and technically proficient support in a home or community setting, ensuring the safety, dignity, and well-being of participants at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Perform suctioning procedures safely and effectively.
Assist with manual handling and mobility support using appropriate techniques and equipment.
Administer medications as per care plans and medical directives.
Manage PEG feeding and associated care.
Support participants using External Urinal Catheters (EUC).
Monitor and report on participant health status and respond to changes.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and support teams.
Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to support protocols.
Promote independence and quality of life for participants.
Essential Criteria
Working towards or holding a Qualification or current enrollment in Nursing, Paramedicine, or related medical field.
Demonstrated experience or training in:
Suctioning
Manual handling
Medication administration
PEG feeding
EUC management
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to client-centered care and professional development.
Hold or willing to obtain a Working with vulnerable persons (WWVP) (worker endorsed only)
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience in community or disability support.
Knowledge of infection control and hygiene practices.
Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and public holidays.
