We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Science Laboratory Technician to work under the direction of the Head of Faculty – Science and teaching staff to provide science program assistance. The successful candidate will support the science department by preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, assisting with experiments, and ensuring the safe and effective use of materials in the lab.

This position commences Semester 2 (14 July 2025). Normal working hours are 7:30am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday with school holidays off.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Providing science program assistance;

Assisting in the design/demonstration of experiments under supervision of science staff member/s;

Under direction prepare, maintain, organise, set-up and dismantle equipment and materials for routine experiences or student projects and dispose of waste materials;

Under direction and within existing routines, methods and procedures prepare, maintain and dispense stock solutions, simple chemical mixtures and compounds, cultures of similar materials;

Carry out general housekeeping in the science laboratories and preparation rooms

ABOUT YOU:

We are looking for people with:

Previous experience working in a laboratory, preferably in an educational setting.

Ability to design and demonstrate experiments, within a variety of routines and procedures, where discretion and judgement are required.

Strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures and protocols.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with teachers, students, and staff.
