About the role

Australasia Scales Pty Ltd is seeking a part-time NATA Lab Technician to join our team in Banyo, QLD. As a NATA Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting with the final stages of set up and accreditation of the lab. Once accredited, this role will move to carrying out calibration services while ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our laboratory testing and calibration services.

This role is one day per week until accreditation is actioned. We expect the role will increase over time for inhouse testing of test masses and it will eventually lead to on site testing of other equipment.

The individual qualification required for NMI Regulation 13 testing of trade masses is a Statement of Attainment in Verifying to 3.1. Assistance will be available in securing this qualification.

What you'll be doing

Assist in the final stages of our preparation for accreditation

Assist in the accreditation process

Conduct a range of laboratory tests and calibrations to NATA accredited standards

Operate and maintain specialised laboratory weighing equipment with a high level of care and precision

Accurately record and document all test results and calibration data

Assist in the preparation of test reports and certificates for clients

Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and procedures

Ensure the laboratory environment is well-organised and compliant with all relevant health and safety regulations

What we're looking for

Relevant qualifications in a scientific or technical discipline, such as a diploma or degree in laboratory technology, applied science or a related field

Previous experience working as a laboratory technician, ideally in a NATA accredited facility

Proficient in the use of common laboratory equipment and instrumentation

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records

Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Knowledge of relevant laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance procedures
