About the ACT Education Directorate Colleges:
Our colleges use the ACT Board of Secondary Studies (BSSS) Curriculum. ACT colleges operate on a continuous school-based assessment model. This means there are no external examinations apart from the ACT Scaling Test (AST) in Year 12. Instead, students are assessed on their learning throughout the 2 years focusing on different themes, concepts or skills.
Colleges and their teachers help create the curriculum and decide which courses to offer students. They provide high-quality educational programs in both regular academic subjects and Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses. VET courses teach students practical skills and allow them to earn credits for both a VET qualification and a Senior Secondary Certificate, improving job prospects and provides a better learning experience.
Teachers applying from interstate can use existing skills and experience as course and content knowledge is easily transferrable.
