Are you a Speech Pathologist passionate about making a positive difference?

Ready to advance your career?

Combine your skills and love of adventure in the NT

The NT Department of Health are inviting enthusiastic Speech Pathologists to join the Royal Darwin Hospital and Palmerston Regional Hospital Speech Pathology teams.

As a Speech Pathologist, you will work as part of a dynamic team providing services to adult and paediatric patients within an acute hospital setting and to adult patients in a specialised rehabilitation or geriatric assessment unit in the sub-acute setting. You will have opportunities to expand your clinical and professional skills, work with a range of clinicians, provide support to students and junior colleagues and enhance your ability to service a culturally diverse population.

To be successful you will have experience and/or an interest in acute or sub-acute hospital settings, particularly in the assessment and management of complex dysphagia (including instrumental swallow assessment) and acquired and cognitive communication disorders in adult and/or paediatric caseloads.

The clinical opportunities include upskilling in the delivery and analysis of instrumental swallow assessments (VFSS, FEES), in tracheostomy and laryngectomy management and working in multidisciplinary teams for children presenting with feeding disorders and working with complex communication disorders across an adult population, following stroke, traumatic or acquired brain injury, and neurodegenerative disorders. There are opportunities for rotation between acute and sub-acute facilities to develop your clinical skills with a range of caseloads.

The challenges and opportunities in health and community care in the Territory are like no other in Australia, from remote Aboriginal health to tropical health and urban tertiary care.
